Oakland Pollinator Garden

This family had a wonderful edible landscape with active beehives and wanted to expand food production with new beehives and raised beds. To extend their time spent outdoors, we coupled new growing spaces with intimate lush nooks and a custom steel trellis.

Edible and ornamental vegetation provides visual interest and pollinator nectar year round. Details include a fence that allows leaf mulch composting within the double-wire fence (added benefit- increased acoustical muffling while offering visual screening and dog fencing.)  Much of the material was upcycled on-site stone to recycled timbers from removed urban trees. The planting design includes bee-friendly soil specs.
