North Berkeley Residence

For their backyard, this active family wanted a child-friendly lawn patch with a low maintenance and low water use plant palette.  A series of low walls provide a flat terrace for the lawn. We worked the walls into the entry sequence so the landscape melded with the beautiful new addition to their home.

Update: For seven years, they've enjoyed the backyard and have done very little to keep it looking great. The papyrus has provided material for countless school projects and costumes. They are now moving for a duration.  In preparation for renting, we are designing a low maintenance front yard that will also look wonderful when they return.
