Julia Morgan School for Girls
Housed in a historical Julia Morgan building on the Mills College campus, Julia Morgan School for Girls offers a comprehensive education for 6th-8th grades. The new landscape replaced haphazard parking lots with a organized set of social spaces and recreational facilities tied together with improved circulation and a single faculty parking lot. Native plantings provide spatial definition; plants were chosen for their habitat value and low water usage. Vehicular and ADA access utilized permeable concrete and served as the storm water management system. Design work included extensive collaboration with the City of Oakland Historical Preservation planners and Mills College to compliment the historical building.
Project team included Eddie Chau and Rebecca Schnier.
