City Slicker Farms, City of Oakland Department of Parks and Recreation and the West Oakland community raised more than $200,000 to convert this park into a community market farm. 4,225 pounds of food is raised annually in 36 raised beds (5% of an acre) at Union Plaza. We configured the beds to maximize production while maintaining ADA accessibility and creating pockets of different kinds of recreational open and social gathering spaces. A farm stand prioritizing low-income community members is open on Saturdays.
