Buena Vista Residence
This cramped 1930's residence was completely remodeled, including new foundations and an extension to the back. The client wished to follow the recommendations of her feng-shui consultant and had us reorganize the interior layout. An amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge serves to anchor the entry and guide visitors through the living spaces of the home. The new kitchen allows her to prepare meals while enjoying even natural light and clean modern materials. Photography: Pamela Palma Photography. Art: Katie Hawkinson.
Winner: 2013 REMMIE, First Place Design Residence over $1M.
Project team included Rebecca Schnier and Jim Breska.
Elements along the organizational axis guide visitors toward the view. Beautifully crafted wood and metal canopies create thresholds, allowing compressions of space before opening up to a view of the Golden Gate and gorgeous sunsets.
